Are all sugars equal?<br \/>\nFindings from a <a href=\"http:\/\/community.beliefnet.com\/go\/thread\/view\/59723\/25540149\/Cancer_cells_feed_on_fructose,_study_finds\">study<\/a> recently published in the journal <a href=\"http:\/\/cancerres.aacrjournals.org\/\">Cancer Research<\/a> indicate the cancer cells soaked up processed sugar more quickly, metabolized it and multiplied.<br \/>\nResearchers at the University of California Los Angeles fed pancreatic tumor cells glucose and fructose and reportedly the cells gorged on the refined sugar and proliferated. Fructose is naturally present in fruits, but it&#8217;s also available in another form in sugar substitutes.<br \/>\n&#8220;Americans take in large amounts of fructose, mainly in high fructose corn syrup, a mix of fructose and glucose that is used in soft drinks, bread and a range of other foods.
