{"id":376,"date":"2009-06-09T15:21:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-09T15:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/cityofbrass\/2009\/06\/international-attitudes-toward.html"},"modified":"2009-06-09T15:21:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-09T15:21:00","slug":"international-attitudes-toward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/cityofbrass\/2009\/06\/international-attitudes-toward.html","title":{"rendered":"international attitudes towards abortion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My friend Razib, writing as David Hume at the Secular Right blog, has <a href=\"http:\/\/secularright.org\/wordpress\/?p=2094\">looked at the data<\/a> on international attitudes towards abortion and made some intriguing observations, notably:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>1) It is clear that religion correlate with opposition to abortion in the vast majority of nations.<\/p>\n<p>2) But, the attitudes of religious people and non-religious people track each other so that the irreligious in nation X may oppose abortion much more than the religious in nation Y.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That second point is really quite thought-provoking.
