This is a horrific case of an honor killing<\/a> in rural India:<\/p>\n

BHOJPUR (GHAZIABAD): A 16-year-old girl, Imrana, was set on fire inside her house on Monday in a case of what the police called ‘moral vigilantism’<\/b>. The victim had screamed for help for about 20 minutes before neighbours arrived only to find her still smoldering. She was admitted to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. <\/p>\n

Two of the four accused — Arif and Asim —
\narrested on Monday night, told the police that Imrana’s father had himself
\nasked them to straighten out his daughter<\/b> as one Irfan was visiting her too
\nfrequently. Imrana reportedly used to weave carpets at home for an export firm.
\nOn Monday, her father, Abdul Hakim, had gone to Hapur to visit someone, while
\nher mother, Vakila, had gone visiting someone in the village.
\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The other two murderers have now also been apprehended<\/a>, thanks in part to Imrana’s own deathbed testimony:<\/p>\n

According to the police, Zalis and Munshaad were
\narrested from a hideout near the village. “They have confirmed the claims of
\nother accused Asim and Arif that Imrana’s father had asked them to straighten
\nhis daughter as one Irfan used to visit her frequently. The four accused had
\nalso scuffled with Irfan and some others on the day of incident. We will book
\nthem under the Gangster Act, the National Security Act, murder and other
\ncharges, ”said Akhil Kumar, Ghaziabad police chief.<\/p>\n

As reported
\nearlier, four men on Monday afternoon forced their way into Imrana’s house and
\nbeat her up. They then set her on fire. Imrana had made a dying statement before
\na magistrate and named the four accused.
\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
