Larison makes a great point<\/a> that bears repeating:<\/p>\n

let us recall that McCain supported cap-and-trade
\n(even if he didn’t necessarily understand what he was talking about
\nwhen he said so), proposed an insane mortgage bailout plan that pretty
\nmuch everyone<\/em> hated, backed TARP and differed from Obama on
\ntaxes largely in that he refused to raise any rates. In the end, the
\nmain difference turns out to be a disagreement about whether to return
\nthe top rate to its Clinton-era level or not.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Add to that the fact that Obama’s stimulus plan includes the largest tax cut in history<\/a>, and that the conservative, pro-big-business US Chamber of Commerce has praised Obama<\/a> and the Democrats for their economic recovery actions thus far. It’s hard to see why Republicans are complaining at all, apart from simple obstructionism. Wanting Obama to fail unfortunately means taking the country down with him.
