Back in March I said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An<br \/>\nauthentically Burkean analysis would, indeed, critique the theocratic<br \/>\npretensions of the ideology of Islamism and its cult of holy violence.<br \/>\nBut Burkeans would carefully qualify this with a prior expression of<br \/>\nrespect for Islamic civilisation, for the ability of mosque and Koran<br \/>\nto shape societies over centuries&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As Ramadan begins today &#8211; in<br \/>\nspite of those who pervert Islam for the ideology of hate and in spite<br \/>\nof the dangerous fools in Tower Hamlets &#8211; it is appropriate to<br \/>\nreiterate that respect.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;ve some Burkean leanings myself, it seems. I found the Wikipedia entry on <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edmund_Burke\">Edmund Burke&#8217;s life<\/a> and works to be very compatible with my own views on religion and politics.
