Arguably, the outcome of the Presidential Election tomorrow in the United States matters to every person in the world, not just Americans. As a supporter of Barack Obama, I have laid out my own personal reasons for supporting Barack Obama<\/a>. But some Muslim Americans are not convinced<\/a>, which is why the list at Muslim For Obama.com of 10 reasons<\/a> to support President Obama is so useful. Here are those reasons, in a nutshell:<\/p>\n

President Obama has banned torture<\/a> and tried to close Gitmo; he is committed to the two-state solution<\/a>; engaged<\/a> the Muslim World; showed strength in Libya and restraint in Iran<\/a>; encouraged the Arab Spring<\/a>; ended the war<\/a> in Iraq and Afghanistan; defended the Muslim American community<\/a> against Islamophobia; included Muslim Americans<\/a> in his government; and has a record of success in leading America Forward<\/a> on all the domestic issues that matter to Americans, Muslim or non-Muslim alike. <\/p>\n

That’s the President’s record, and while there are issues with him on which we disagree, or remain disappointed in, we can’t ignore the fact that this list would have been very different under President McCain. The question is, who can we trust for the next four years? Which candidate – Romney or Obama – is more likely to make decisions like these?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Share these reasons<\/a> with other Muslim Americans on Facebook, email this link<\/a> to people you know, tweet about it or mention it on the phone – if you only succeed in changing one person’s mind, that’s a lot – especially since every vote counts, and as few as 537 Muslims back in 2000<\/a> could have prevented the Iraq War.<\/p>\n

Look, I’ve even met and liked Paul Ryan<\/a> as a person. I’m not demonising the opposition – I do not think Mitt Romney is evil or hates muslims, but the world in which he is elected President will not be a good one for Muslims in the US nor abroad. Barack Obama has a record of success<\/a> and that’s why he deserves our support.
