David Ramadan<\/a> has won the Republican primary for the 87th District in Virginia. David is a conservative Republican and I probably disagree with him on most issues, but he deserves kudos for his victory especially in the light of a vicious opposition campaign by Jo-Ann Chase, whose entire platform was one large smear campaign<\/a> accusing David Ramadan of being a jihadist. <\/p>\n

In general the Republican Party has been hostile to muslims, to the point where Republican muslims like Rima Sinclair<\/a> and Suhail Khan<\/a> have been disgracefully slandered and vilified. <\/p>\n

That’s all the more reason to celebrate and congratulate David Ramadan on his victory two days ago – it is important for muslim Americans to have a wide political dynamic range and not become too tied down to the Democrats and the left. If the GOP is able to overcome its Muslim Problem then that will be a good thing for muslims, Republicans, and the country as a whole.<\/p>\n
