The amphibians took over the homes and streets of Choloma after heavy rain fell in the area, causing drains to overflow and puddles to form.<\/p>\n<p>The outbreak started on Dec. 3 and, according to locals, continued for at least three days. At one point, a pick-up truck lost control on the slime left behind and caused a pile-up involving at least five vehicles, including a tanker, two lorries, and a motorbike that was left burnt to a crisp. There were no fatalities, but the road was blocked for some time, causing a long tailback, said residents.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zu_0hXaI930?si=LYC4-fAIBtAEIt5v\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some of the people caught up in the crash had to be taken to hospital in the nearby city of San Pedro Sula. Several people filmed the creatures swarming the area, including one man who said, \u201cThis scares me. It looks more like the plagues of Egypt.\u201d The Book of Exodus says the second plague of Egypt was a plague of frogs. The account says Moses, at the command of God, brought forth a multitude of the amphibians from the Nile, and they then covered Egypt for three days.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in December, another \u2018biblical\u2019 plague, this time of\u00a0locusts, hit Yucat\u00e1n in Mexico. Miles-long clouds of the bugs blanketed the skies, flying through shopping plazas, smacking into the windows of apartment complexes and gobbling up anything green in local parks.
