Former tattoo artist and reality star Katherine von Drachenberg, more commonly known as Kat Von D, announced through Instagram that she had been baptized. The <\/span>post<\/span><\/a>\u00a0shows Von D with the pastor, surrounded by tattooed friends and family, as she was submerged for the baptism. “Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in obedience to His Divine command, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” the pastor can be heard saying. Upon coming out of the water, Von D hugs him. Most comments on the post-show support from Von D’s fans after this latest change for the “queen of goth.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Von D has gone through a number of changes in the last year. In 2021, Von D officially left California and her famous High Voltage Tattoo Shop. She revealed she and her husband, Rafael Reyes, had purchased a home in rural Indiana and were leaving the Golden State for good. “The more time we spend out there, we realize we feel more at home there than we do here in LA,” she posted. Von D moved to <\/span>Vevay, IN<\/span><\/a>, a town near the Kentucky border that is as interesting and colorful as Von D is.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last June, Von D\u00a0<\/span>posted an image<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of a new blackout tattoo she had on her leg. “Just know that I absolutely LOVE it, and it’s extremely refreshing for me to see all the garbage, drunken tattoos I had scribbled all over my leg that I got before I became sober, be covered by sleekness and simplicity,” she posted. Von D became sober in 2007 after years of struggling with alcohol. “Personally, being sober means that I operate better and function better; I believe I am meant to be that way. If anybody out there feels that they relate to me in any capacity and happen to be struggling, perhaps I can lead by example by showing that if I can do it, you can do it too,” Von D told The Fix in October 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The next month, after sharing about covering up some of her old tattoos, Von D then announced that she was <\/span>getting rid<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of her occult books and memorabilia. “I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself, what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves,” Von D\u00a0<\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a>. “In no way is this post designed to put anyone down if you’re into this stuff because I think we are all on our own journey, and I love everyone regardless of where they might be. But right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light,” she added. Von D’s father was a missionary in Mexico through the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
