He told TBN, \u201cI got to have God. See, I think about what I\u2019ve been through being in this world and whatnot; if I didn\u2019t have God, I wouldn\u2019t be here. I\u2019d be in prison; I\u2019d be going off on people and stuff like that with people following me and taking pictures of me to get dirt on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He explained, \u201cMy first instinct, I\u2019m from the hood, I wanna jam you. You think you\u2019re something? I\u2019m gonna show you, you know, I\u2019m gonna crack some heads, you know. And that\u2019s the thing, like my brother taught me, they know I can be tough, but do they know I can be cool.\u201d Mr. T\u2019s IMDB <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0001558\/bio\/?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm\">shares<\/a>\u00a0that the actor was born in the south side of Chicago as one of 12 children. His father left when he was young, and his mother raised his family on $87 a month.<\/p>\n<p>For Mr. T, the only way to keep himself from retaliation was to rely on God for strength and stay in the Word. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=992658912065095\">Holding up a Bible, he said<\/a>, \u201cThis here is like medicine. You know how somebody says, \u2018Well, he went off, he didn\u2019t take his medicine,\u2019 so if I haven\u2019t been in the Bible, it\u2019s like I haven\u2019t had my medicine.\u201d However, staying in the Bible as a celebrity is challenging, especially because society typically rejects those who are open about their faith.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FTBN%2Fvideos%2F992658912065095%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rather than shy away from his faith, Mr. T embraced Christianity and even cherished moments when his faith offended others. He shared, \u201cI came to Hollywood with Jesus. I\u2019m not gonna disavow Jesus for somebody else\u2019s moment. No. I\u2019m gonna stay with God. I prayed to God. I\u2019ve been praying to God. I ain\u2019t [going to] stop praying to God. If it\u2019s bothering somebody, that makes me feel good.\u201d He joked, \u201cMy momma said, \u2018Son, that\u2019s some kind of power; you can beat a man without touching him.\u2019 And that\u2019s good, you know, can\u2019t nobody sue me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Faithwire, last year, Mr. T said, \u201cI know that my mother would be very proud because I never let fame nor success stop me from being a bold Christian!\u201d Recognizing his influence, Mr. T vowed to use his fame to spread the gospel. He played certain characters and dressed in ways that made people let down their guard so he could share his faith with them.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, this brought people to Christ, but often, people turned away, unwilling to hear about God or the Bible. While disheartening, Mr. T. understands it\u2019s not his business to change hearts or minds. He told TBN, \u201cMy message is not for everyone, it\u2019s not. Many will hear the Word, but few will head it. I always go back to Noah, God speaking to Noah. Only eight people were saved; it was his family. People looked at him and laughed.
