Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson recently shared that he\u2019s reading through the Bible, and it\u2019s opened his eyes about God\u2019s sovereignty, man\u2019s sinfulness, and humanity\u2019s role in the world. The former Fox News commentator made the remarks at the 2023\u00a0Family Leadership Summit<\/a>, a gathering of conservative leaders in Des Moines, Iowa.<\/p>\n

Carlson said he started reading the Bible in February for Lent, acknowledging that he hasn\u2019t been a \u201cparticularly faithful\u201d Episcopalian. He\u2019s read through the New Testament and is now reading through Deuteronomy in the Old Testament.<\/p>\n

Carlson said two things stick out to him. He said, \u201cFirst, with the exception of Jesus, every figure is like really flawed, like flawed in a way where you\u2019d be like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if I can be friends with that person.\u2019\u201d He said he was shocked to read the story about Abraham giving Sarah to Abimelech, falsely telling him she was his sister in Genesis 20. Carlson was confused by the story, and his wife suggested, \u201cMaybe the point is that God takes people who are not perfect people and uses them for these grander purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n
