Christian rapper Kevin \u201cKB\u201d Burgess is begging believers to embrace Christian rap to reach people with God\u2019s word. KB recently released a new book, Dangerous Jesus: Why the Only Thing More Risky than Getting Jesus Right Is Getting Jesus Wrong<\/a>. <\/em>He told Christian Headlines that contemporary hip-hop teaches young people to \u201chate Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also pleaded with fellow Christians to put their reservations aside to support people like him, trying to spread God\u2019s word through Christian rap. KB told Christian Headlines<\/a>, \u201cLet\u2019s return to that era of seeing Christian hip-hop as a powerful way that we might bring revival. Think about what we can rejoice over, that the Gospel is being preached, churches are being strengthened, and people are coming to Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not everyone in the Christian realm supports faith-based rap and hip-hop, but KB said people should remember the extreme nature of the secular alternative. He told Christian Headlines, \u201cThe alternative is what your children are going to listen to, they are listening to. And the alternative is teaching them to hate Jesus. That\u2019s a little hyperbolic. But there\u2019s truth to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Christian rapper encouraged Christians to look beyond differences and focus on the Bible as a unifier that helps everyone look beyond divides. His new book discusses Christ\u2019s countercultural message, describing how Jesus\u2019 actions and words were a \u201cthreat\u201d to many. The text reads in part, \u201cFrom the moment He arrived on the scene, Jesus posed a threat to the unjust, a threat to the oppressors, and a threat to every semblance of authority wielded by the kingdom of darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n

It continues, \u201cHe invaded the world with love for the forgotten, hope for the hopeless, and freedom for the bound. His ideas were disruptive, subversive, and scandalous to the world around Him.\u201d In the book, KB addresses people walking away from faith today and tackles what he sees as the ways in which Christ is and has historically been \u201cignored, weaponized, reinterpreted, and misappropriated.\u201d His goal is to focus on the \u201ctrue\u201d biblical Jesus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
