Avid Chick-fil-A fans were recently served yet another reason to love the iconic fast food brand, as former CEO Dan Cathy spoke in-depth about the company\u2019s quest to \u201cglorify God.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cathy, now chair of the board after his son Andrew Truett Cathy became CEO in 2021,\u00a0told Chief Executive magazine<\/a>\u00a0why he decided to double down on the mission his father, S. Truett Cathy, set out for Chick-fil-A, remaining closed on Sundays and sticking to closely held principles.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Chick-fil-A, we are very grounded on our corporate purpose, to be a purpose-driven organization,\u201d he said. \u201cThat purpose is defined in the statement that we\u2019re here to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that\u2019s entrusted to us and have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cathy said the company wants to \u201cimpact people\u2019s lives\u201d and be a \u201cgood steward\u201d of what it has been given. He recognized that none of the money or accolades could go with Chick-fil-A\u2019s leaders after they die, so he stressed keeping everything in perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe only have it for just a moment in time, so let\u2019s be a good steward of it,\u201d Cathy\u00a0told Chief Executive<\/a>. \u201cAnd then, ultimately, let\u2019s acknowledge our Creator. Let\u2019s have a sense of humility, let\u2019s have a teachable spirit, let\u2019s be willing to be submissive, all of which we learn in our faith experience to honor the Lord and seek to honor him in all that we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The restaurant chain\u2019s popularity transcends food. For Cathy and his family, the business goes much deeper, reaching the hearts and souls of customers. This quest to serve the whole person has undoubtedly made Chick-fil-A one of the most respected companies in America.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are hungry to be treated with honor, dignity and respect,\u201d Cathy said. \u201cAs delicious as our chicken bite sandwiches are, our fresh-squeezed lemonade and those hot waffle fries, people are in greater need of being restored and encouraged from an emotional standpoint.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Christian Headlines\u00a0noted<\/a>, Cathy said faith was the key to the recent CEO transition; it\u2019s a move that can often be complex and multifaceted, yet the company, through faith and reliance, handled it well.<\/p>\n

In the end, if Chick-fil-A has proven one thing, the company seems to always stick by its values, particularly regarding faith and service, and that devotion has genuinely paid off.<\/p>\n
