{"id":4797,"date":"2022-12-05T09:37:43","date_gmt":"2022-12-05T14:37:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/christnewstoday\/?p=4797"},"modified":"2022-12-05T09:37:43","modified_gmt":"2022-12-05T14:37:43","slug":"author-david-limbaugh-shares-what-brought-him-from-skepticism-to-christianity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/christnewstoday\/2022\/12\/author-david-limbaugh-shares-what-brought-him-from-skepticism-to-christianity.html","title":{"rendered":"Author David Limbaugh Shares What Brought Him From Skepticism to Christianity"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_4809\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4809\" style=\"width: 463px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4809\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/409\/2022\/12\/david-limbaugh-credit-wikicommons-350x238.png\" alt=\"david limbaugh\" width=\"463\" height=\"315\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4809\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gage Skidmore\/Wikimedia Commons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Author David Limbaugh, brother of the late Rush Limbaugh, recently revealed the surprising thing that helped convince him of biblical truth:\u00a0the presence of evil.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the things, when I was a skeptic, that finally put me over the top \u2026 was the pervasiveness of evil in the world,\u201d Limbaugh said. \u201cThere\u2019s no other explanation of evil \u2014 the level and intensity of evil that we witness \u2014 than the biblical worldview.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cThat is the only thing that satisfactorily explains what we witness on this earth.\u201d Limbaugh discussed the \u201cglorification of evil\u201d that is often pervasive concerning issues like abortion, among other cultural problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese people who advocate abortion on demand have the moral high ground in this perverse culture,\u201d he said. \u201cThey advocate mutilating children in sex-change, gender-change surgery. That\u2019s pure evil; it\u2019s objectively evil.\u201d Limbaugh argued there\u2019s a spiritual dimension to these issues that cannot be discounted, likening it to some people being \u201cunder a spell\u201d of some sort.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VL2mc9tDJnA?start=273\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He pointed to the Apostle Paul\u2019s words in Ephesians 6 about the spiritual battle between good and evil. \u201cPaul \u2026 is so explicit,\u201d he said. \u201cThe principles and powers of darkness are behind the physical world, and they\u2019re really pulling the levers. It\u2019s not like we\u2019re all pawns, but we don\u2019t see it. It\u2019s invisible to us, and I think it\u2019s self-evident when you really have some self-awareness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Limbaugh further evoked Paul, calling on believers to \u201cput on the full armor of God\u201d and pray to the Lord. \u201cThat\u2019s what Paul tells us to do,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s how we avail ourselves of the power to fight against these evil spirits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Limbaugh made these comments while discussing his new book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Resurrected-Jesus-David-Limbaugh\/dp\/1621579891\">The Resurrected Jesus: The Church in the New Testament<\/a>,\u201d which he co-authored alongside his daughter, Christen Limbaugh Bloom. Bloom said she hopes the book \u201cgives light\u201d to the reality that the same Holy Spirit working through Paul and the Apostles is the same Holy Spirit \u201calive and well in Christians\u2019 hearts today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have access to the power of the Almighty God, who is so much greater than the enemy and all of his underlings,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, I pray that people truly understand that and start acting like it and start having a dialogue with God, asking Him to work through them in ways that they haven\u2019t thought of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is indeed evil present in the world, but thankfully, we have someone who is more powerful than the enemy and there to help us sort through any issues. When we see any evil around us or in our worlds, we must remind ourselves that we shouldn\u2019t handle it in our own way. Instead, take it to God and let Him handle it His way. He\u2019s more powerful than any enemy; ultimately, He knows how the story will end. We should be thankful that we have access to a God who is so powerful and willing to help His children.
