CS Lewis continues to inspire others nearly sixty years after his death. During the Kingdom Bound Music Festival in Clinton, IA, Christian gospel singer Jordan Feliz discussed the inspiration for his song, \u201cAnother Way\u201d on his album, \u201cSay It.\u201d \u201cIt stems from a quote from a guy named C.S. Lewis. He says this: If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, then the most probable explanation is that [we] were made for another world,\u201d Feliz said of the inspiration behind the song. The song goes, \u201cIt\u2019s like my soul\u2019s already missing \/ A place I\u2019ve never seen or heard \/ And the only explanation must be \/ Must be \/ I\u2019m from another world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The quote Feliz referenced is from CS Lewis\u2019s popular book, \u201cMere Christianity,\u201d which was adapted from a series of radio talks he made between 1941 to 1944. Lewis, perhaps best known for his \u201cChronicles of Narnia\u201d series, was also a prolific apologist and theologian. Having come to Christ as an adult, his apologetic work focused on many concerns people struggle with when they face the apparent impracticalities of accepting Christ. Lewis addressed the internal dissatisfaction people have in the material world writing, \u201cIf I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Feliz stated that the song was a late addition to his album. \u201cIt felt like something was missing from this [album], and I wasn\u2019t quite sure what it was yet.\u201d He and a friend of his ended up writing what Feliz called a \u201cpoem\u201d in the back of their tour bus. Later, Feliz and others worked up the poem into the song \u201cAnother Way.\u201d When it was completed, Feliz knew it was the missing piece to his album.<\/p>\n

The song deals with a sense of longing that cannot quite be identified and can only be resolved through faith. In a 2020 interview with the Christian Post<\/a> while he was still working on \u201cSay It,\u201d Feliz talked about the difficulties that relying on faith can present. \u201cThere are always going to be questions that nobody has the answers to. And what I tell people who are struggling is, that\u2019s why it\u2019s called faith. That is why it\u2019s [not] called fact\u2026Can we somehow prove it at a factual level for all the scientists out there? No, it\u2019s all faith-driven.\u201d He continued to discuss his faith in pursuing his music career, saying, \u201cI know, for a fact in my heart that Jesus called my wife and I out here for me to start a ministry and to start performing and elevating the name of Jesus every day. Now, can I sit there and prove that I know? It\u2019s all just faith.
