A new genetic study is debunking much of what we know today about the evolution of species.<\/p>\n

In this study, senior research associate at the Program for the Human Environment at Rockefeller University Mark Stoeckle and University of Basel geneticist David Thaler discovered that 90 percent of all animals on Earth appeared at right around the same time as humans.<\/p>\n

This affirms the biblical account of creation, says Ken Ham, founder and president of Answers in Genesis.<\/p>\n

The DNA barcodes of 100,000 animal species were examined in a study published in the journal Human Evolution<\/em>.<\/p>\n

They found, more specifically that 9 out of 10 animal species on our planet came into being at the same time as humans 100,000 to 200,000 years ago.<\/p>\n

The conclusion of this study goes against evolutionary theory.<\/p>\n

Over the last decade, hundreds of scientists collected around 5 million DNA barcodes from 100,000 animals in different parts of the globe. Stoeckle and Thaler looked through these 5 million genetic imprints to find one of the most surprising discoveries about evolution to date.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis conclusion is very surprising,\u201d says Thaler, \u201cand I fought against it as hard as I could.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phys.org reports that these findings are sure to jostle, if not overturn, more than one settled idea about how evolution unfolds.<\/p>\n

The research also presents the possibility that a catastrophic event wiped out most off the life on Earth 100,000 to 200,000 years ago. But Ham believes the research affirms what Scripture says about life\u2019s origins. Creationists believe the catastrophic event was the flood.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvolution doesn\u2019t expect the vast majority of our species to have arrived at the same time, nor does it expect species to have these clear genetic boundaries,\u201d Ham said. \u201cBut this is what we\u2019d expect in a biblical worldview \u2013 indeed it\u2019s what creationists have been saying all along, although their timeframe of 100,000-200,000 years is inflated, due to evolutionary assumptions.\u201d<\/p>\n
