Author and conservative pundit Dinesh D\u2019Souza has made a name for himself defending conservative values. Now, his latest book turns to defending the Bible by discussing some of the most compelling archaeological discoveries that support it. The book, The Stones Cry Out: Biblical Archeology, Prophecy and the Last Days<\/a><\/em>, is set to be released in October of this year and was inspired by a trip D\u2019Souza took to Israel in 2022. The book takes on archaeological evidence pertaining to some of the most iconic Biblical stories, including the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the fall of the walls of Jericho, King Solomon\u2019s Temple, the Israelites\u2019 exodus from Egypt, and the resurrection of Christ. The book includes video links where readers can personally experience the sites for themselves.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Fox News Digital<\/a><\/em>, D\u2019Souza discussed why he finds archaeology so important in supporting the Bible. \u201cArchaeology stunningly supports the historicity of the Bible,\u201d he said. D\u2019Souza noted that archeology has proved even some of the smallest references in the Bible, such as the so-called Pilate Stone, which bears the name of Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor who ordered Jesus\u2019s execution. For years, his existence had been debated amongst historians, but the Stone not only confirmed the existence of such a person but also referred to him as the \u201cprefect of Judea,\u201d the exact title given to him in the Bible. \u201cBoom. Not only does it confirm the existence of Pilate, but the Bible writers had his title exactly correct. Later, the title was evidently changed to procurator \u2014 but in Jesus’ own time Pontius Pilate had the title that the Bible ascribes to him,\u201d said D\u2019Souza. Archaeological finds continue to pour in from Biblical locations like Israel and what is now modern-day Turkey. Archaeologists in Israel have uncovered what appears to be the remains of the town of Bethsaida<\/a>, a town that was home to some of Jesus\u2019s disciples, including Peter and Andrew. Even more striking is the discovery of an ancient basilica that has historically been claimed to have been built upon the site of Peter and Andrew\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

D\u2019Souza didn\u2019t let skeptics perturb him. \u201cI think the skeptics generally are sort of armchair critics. The problem for them is that archaeology is digging out of the ground artifacts that are a decisive refutation of the things that they say,\u201d he said. He described his new book as an \u201cattempt to bridge the gap between the academic world and the public.\u201d He also encouraged Christians to make the trip to Israel if they can. \u201cAll of the Old Testament and Jesus’ own ministry takes place in the [land] of Israel,\u201d he said. “You get a much deeper understanding by being there.\u201d And for those who can\u2019t make the trip? \u201cThe Stones Cry Out<\/em> is the next best thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
