The university has held its multi-night tent revival event for 27 years, with this year\u2019s event drawing in around 1,000 people. This year\u2019s theme was \u201cThe Potter and the Clay,\u201d with a focus on spiritual growth and surrender. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umhb.edu\/news\/2026\/umhbs-27th-annual-spring-revival-challenges-students-to-be-clay-in-the-hands-of-the-creator\">In a release<\/a> from the school\u2019s newsletter, UMHB Dean of Students Michael Burns described this year\u2019s vision. \u201cRevival 2026 invites our campus community into the clay and the potter journey, identifying the barriers that keep our hearts from being shaped by a loving Father through a life-changing relationship with Jesus,&#8221; he said. He referred to the event\u2019s theme verse, Isaiah 64:8, which states \u201cAnd yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We are all formed by your hand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Evangelist Shane Pruitt was the main speaker. On the first night of the event, he warned his audience against treating faith like \u201cplaydough,\u201d where Jesus fits personal preferences rather than being the Jesus of the Bible. He challenged students to have a radical faith that encouraged change rather than validation. The second day focused on \u201cgrave clothes\u201d and how Jesus\u2019s resurrection could bring change to their lives. The third and final night was spent on encouraging students to focus on their calling. \u201cThe atmosphere was transformative as students began to minister to one another, choosing to follow and serve Jesus with newfound bold intentionality. Seeing a generation ready to live out their faith in Jesus by praying for each other and worshipping together was a beautiful conclusion to the revival,\u201d said Burns of the event.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/hundreds-attend-tent-revival-at-texas-university.html\"><em>The Christian Post<\/em><\/a><em>, <\/em>Pruitt spoke about his hopes for the event. Pruitt\u2019s investment in the school is personal as his eldest daughter attends the school. \u201cThis is a great school and event,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, preaching to and worshiping with college students, plus spending a week with my daughter and watching her serve the Lord, is a win-win,\u201d he said. He called the event itself \u201cincredible.\u201d \u201cWe saw students make professions of faith in Jesus for salvation, many others surrender to a calling to ministry leadership and missions in their lives, and others repent and confess sin and experience victory and freedom in Christ,\u201d he said. \u201cEach night \u2026 the crowd of college students grew.
