{"id":980,"date":"2011-09-23T20:49:18","date_gmt":"2011-09-24T00:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/changingchannels\/?p=980"},"modified":"2011-09-23T20:49:55","modified_gmt":"2011-09-24T00:49:55","slug":"nice-to-see-g-and-pg-movies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/changingchannels\/2011\/09\/nice-to-see-g-and-pg-movies.html","title":{"rendered":"Nice To See &#8216;G&#8217;, &#8216;PG&#8217; Movies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know, I know &#8230; I come off as some kind of goody two-shoes sometimes.<\/p>\n<p>I just don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s so great about all those movies where people are getting drunk, throwing up, acting obnoxiously and wasting their time and ours.<\/p>\n<p>Not to mention the money involved &#8230; in making trash and the cost to go view it, too.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s possible to have escapism and still have a decent quality flick &#8230; at least in the case of <em>Dolphin Tale<\/em> and <em>Seven Days In Utopia<\/em>.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wisconsin Woman Helps Train Star Of &#039;Dolphin Tale&#039;\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fZkJ3D8vCyc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>While this is a TV column, I am giving myself a pass to blog about movies tonight since Today ran a feature on Dolphin Tale Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The PG flick, starring <strong>Morgan Freeman<\/strong>, about doctors who created a prosthetic tale for a lost and hurt dolphin looks inspirational and family friendly.<\/p>\n<p>Nice&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>As does <em>Seven Days In Utopia<\/em>, which stars <strong>Robert Duvall<\/strong> who helps a visitor to a small town work on his golf game while learning other life lessons.<\/p>\n<p>Duvall&#8217;s played some seedy characters over the years, most famously as the family lawyer in <em>The Godfather<\/em>, but he&#8217;s also played some thoughftul roles too like this one.<\/p>\n<p>Even nicer &#8230; despite what critics say in knocking the film&#8217;s Christian plot as &#8220;corny&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, well &#8230; a little corny in this world &#8220;ain&#8217;t&#8221; such a bad thing in my view.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I know, I know &#8230; I come off as some kind of goody two-shoes sometimes.
