With the NFL season getting underway it may be interesting to think about what happened to the once-great program Inside The NFL<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Oh, the weekly highlights and analysis show is still on, airing on Showtime<\/strong> after moving from its home of three decades, HBO<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It would appear the latter made the right move in dumping Inside The NFL<\/em> a few years ago, however.<\/p>\n

I make that opinion based on a recent report that the show is not even rated among the top100 cable TV programs.<\/p>\n

Storage Wars<\/em> is No. 1 and the list is littered with other reality programs that people love to hate or hate to love.<\/p>\n

Inside The NFL<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Inside the NFL<\/em> has become neither of those things, however, which is practically a death-knell in today’s TV world.<\/p>\n

I am no genius but I KNOW why Inside The NFL<\/em> no longer registers as must-see programming for football fans.<\/p>\n

No. 1 is viewers have seen, or could see, all the highlights Inside the NFL<\/em> offers several times by the time the show airs mid-week.<\/p>\n

Heck, by Monday night that’s true before “Boomer” screams his way through them.<\/p>\n

No. 2 is that the personalities on Inside the NFL<\/em> are already oversaturated as far viewers are concerned. James Brown and Phil Simms are already on CBS<\/strong>,\u00a0 Collinsworth works for NBC<\/strong> and Sapp is on the NFL Network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Inside the NFL<\/em> is a good show, but good is no longer good enough … there is no special or compelling reason to watch the program.<\/p>\n
