Matt Lauer is tired, literally, of the Today Show<\/em> on NBC.<\/p>\n

The co-host with newly promoted Ann Curry, is reportedly weary of getting up at 4 a.m. for work and may leave the top-ranked morning show.<\/p>\n

NBC may look to make a splash with the opening, apparently showing interest in American Idol’s<\/em> Ryan Seacrest, according to mediaite.com.<\/p>\n

The move could bring a younger demographic to the program, not a bad idea, and Seacrest is telegenic.<\/p>\n

The negatives outweigh the positives to me, however, as Seacrest would be a tough fit with Curry.<\/p>\n

The over-enunciating E! host could also lose some of his appeal in the morning as he reportedly is leery about early a.m. hours.<\/p>\n

And gravitas?<\/p>\n

Does Seacrest have that necessary quality to replace Lauer, who is the face of the show?<\/p>\n
