Tired of mind-mushing reality shows, or over-acted dramas?<\/p>\n

Sometimes it’s nice to turn on a television channel where you can actually learn something and not feel a little grimy for watching.<\/p>\n

The Smithsonian Channel offers escapism programming in a good way.<\/p>\n

Often available on higher tier cable or satellite packages, Smithsonian has programs on Nelson Mandela, the U.S. Postal Service, the Peruvian civilization, air disasters, the moon landing and Hitler, to name a few.<\/p>\n

I easily got sucked into Air Disasters<\/em>, which recounts some of the worst airline crashes in history.<\/p>\n

I can’t get my wife to fly now as it is, so I quickly change the channel when she walks by the office and that program is on.<\/p>\n

“It’s still the safest” … ahhh, she won’t listen to me anyway on that.<\/p>\n

She’ll watch other Smithsonian Channel offerings with me,\u00a0 however and chances are you’ll enjoy its shows too.<\/p>\n
