So said actress Lindsay Lohan of her long-running troubles in the current edition of <\/span>Playboy<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It sounds so reasonable, so mature of her to say that and we need to be forgiving and hopeful that Lohan can turn a corner on her life and live cleanly, soberly and with a purpose.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But the expression \u201cactions speak louder than words\u201d seems to ring out her regarding Lohan, who has two drink driving arrests, five jail sentences and five rehab stints under her belt.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Her choice of forum in which to tell her story also sounds off alarms, or it should.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It may sound like ex-Saints coach Jim Mora’s lament over his team’s postseason chances, which he parlayed into a recent beer ad, but I’ll say this \u201cPlayboy! \u2026. are you kidding me \u2026 Playboy?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

OK, so her decision may have had a little something to do with a $1 million payoff from Hugh Hefner but it still seems short-sighted to state her case in a men’s \u201cadult\u201d magazine. The move also didn’t quite work out for \u201cThe Hef\u201d when the pictures were leaked online \u2026 though the mag’s sales should be OK.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lohan seems to have forgotten what she said back in 2004, however. “I`m not doing Playboy, no. Never. They contacted my publicist and they asked if I would do their 20 questions spread, which is not a nude photo that they do with it. It`s a regular photo. But I do have a Disney movie coming out and a young fan base and I`m not interested in doing Playboy right now in my life.<\/em>“<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Well, OK so Lohan even manages to contradict HERSELF in that one statement from the beginning to the end … giving herself space to change her mind\u2026 quite a mean feat for a former <\/span>Mean Girl<\/em><\/span>, (to mention a movie she starred in).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Lohan is reportedly treating her probation responsibilities seriously and should be applauded for that as she has been, from newspapers and media outlets all over the web. But the latest interview could be perceived as a step back.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The one-time child star who was so sweet and cute and funny in <\/span>The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday<\/em><\/span> and <\/span>Herbie<\/em><\/span> movies, seems SO focused on her physical appearance these days. And then wonders why she is the center of attention for the gossip pages and papparazzi…<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cSex and sexuality are a part of nature, and I go along with nature.\u00a0 I think Marilyn Monroe once said that,\u201d commented Lohan in the interview. \u201cI certainly agree with her. Knowing yourself and your body is so important because it gives you confidence, and in life, women need confidence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Some would argue that while your body\/appearance stand out as the first thing people see, it isn’t nearly as important as \u201cinner-beauty\u201d and how one comes across as a person\/human being.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

We all grow old and most of us become less \u201cbeautiful\u201d physically, so does that mean our confidence should fade because of it? Many people seem to GAIN confidence with age and become MORE comfortable in their own skin even as they wrinkle and their bodies become, well, uncooperative to put it kindly.<\/p>\n

And that’s actually a pretty cool in a lot of ways …<\/p>\n

If we have or can develop that God-given inner-beauty, well \u2026 that can serve us and others so much better. Perhaps Lindsay Lohan will come to understand that more as time goes on.<\/p>\n
