{"id":1251,"date":"2011-11-19T12:00:02","date_gmt":"2011-11-19T17:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/changingchannels\/?p=1251"},"modified":"2011-11-19T12:00:02","modified_gmt":"2011-11-19T17:00:02","slug":"hate-to-snicker-but-is-candy-ad-funny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/changingchannels\/2011\/11\/hate-to-snicker-but-is-candy-ad-funny.html","title":{"rendered":"Hate To Snicker, But Is Candy Ad Funny?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been meaning to write about this one for some time, but wasn&#8217;t quite sure how to address it.<\/p>\n<p>Is the ad for <em>Snickers<\/em>, the one where two sharks &#8220;discuss&#8221; the difference of how people tasted, and decide the person who ate the candy bar tasted better, in bad taste, so to speak?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/248\/2011\/11\/snickers-ad.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1254\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/248\/2011\/11\/snickers-ad.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My first reaction was it was a very funny and clever ad.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, especially as I heard about more shark attacks, I began to change my opinion.<\/p>\n<p>I bet the ad ISN&#8217;T funny to anyone who has been attacked by a shark or their family members who have to deal with the ramifications of such an attack.<\/p>\n<p>The ad has already had a good, long run but perhaps it&#8217;s time to pull it off the airwaves.<\/p>\n<p>Am I, as I do at times, making too much of this?<\/p>\n<p>What do you think?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been meaning to write about this one for some time, but wasn&#8217;t quite sure how to address it.
