“I want to thank the Lord, for he got me here,” said Scotty McCreery after winning this season’s American Idol.<\/p>\n

Good for him, giving props where they should go in the opinion of many … to the Lord.<\/p>\n

His fans who packed the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C., near his hometown of Garner had it right too … in my opinion.<\/p>\n

“He’s not afraid to praise the Lord, that’s the main thing,” said one adoring fan in an interview on FOX50.<\/p>\n

He, as in Jesus Christ, IS the main thing and a the best reason to end American Idol-izing after a long, impressive run.<\/p>\n

Here in one short Bible phrase, is why:<\/p>\n

Isa 42:8 (NIV) “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.”<\/p>\n

While American Idol may seem nice and sweet most of the time, anything that detracts from Jesus being our one TRUE and ONLY idol can be dangerous.<\/p>\n

I don’t mean to come off as heavy-handed because I have to check myself here too.<\/p>\n

As someone who lives within an hour of the RBC Center would I rush there and yell and scream for the Lord if I heard He was there?<\/p>\n

Or would I worry about the gas money, traffic or a program on TV I’d risk missing?<\/p>\n
