My Dad Says<\/a> <\/i><span class=\"plainlinks selfreference\">bleeps<br \/>\nout the uncouth word but this season some television pilots are pushing<br \/>\nthe limits of taste still further. Disney-owned ABC, for example, has<br \/>\nboth <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/thefutoncritic.com\/devwatch\/dont-trust-the-bitch-in-apt-23\/\"><i>Don&#8217;t Trust the Bitch in Apt. 23<\/i><\/a> and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/thefutoncritic.com\/devwatch\/good-christian-bitches\/\">Good Christian Bitches<\/a> &#8211;<\/i><br \/>\ntwo titles that demean women, one of which snipes at Christians as<br \/>\nwell. BTW, try applying other group-centric adjectives to that second show name and<br \/>\nsee how many you think would get greenlit as <i>&#8220;edgy&#8221;<\/i> pilots. The exercise may<br \/>\ngive you a pretty good idea of who&#8217;s on Hollywood&#8217;s<br \/>\nPC-protected list and who&#8217;s on its <i>SH*!<\/i> list. <br \/><b><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2011\/02\/12\/us-film-idUSTRE71B0H820110212\"><i>MOOZ-lum<\/i> explores Muslim experience in America.<\/a> <\/b>View <a href=\"http:\/\/v2dstudio.com\/Moozlum\/index.html\">trailer<\/a>.<br \/>\nI haven&#8217;t seen the film. It&#8217;s mission of differentiating practicing,<br \/>\npeaceful Muslims from terrorists is a good one. I do, however, hope<br \/>\nthat, while knocking down unfair and dangerous Islamic stereotypes, it<br \/>\nalso avoids perpetuating the equally-unfair and dangerous stereotype of<br \/>\nan America comprised of Islamophobic bigots. My view is that if movies<br \/>\nand <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_I4YrgGHCXE\">television shows<\/a><br \/>\nreally want to foster understanding, the best way to do that is to<br \/>\nhonestly deal with the issues while also portraying intelligent people of goodwill on both sides who get along and work toward peace. Good examples have positive power.
