Here are the highlights, as reported by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/report-2010-box-office-favored-159622\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a>: <\/p>\n<p><i>Movies with pro-atheism messages in 2010, for example, earned an<br \/>\naverage $6.6 million while movies portraying &#8220;very strong Biblical<br \/>\nmorality&#8221; earned $78 million. Movies with lots of profanity earned $23<br \/>\nmillion and movies without profanity earned $50 million. Movies with<br \/>\nmessages advocating a &#8220;Christian&#8221; worldview earned $105 million and<br \/>\nthose advocating &#8220;miscellaneous morality&#8221; earned $10 million, according<br \/>\nto the study.<\/p>\n<p><\/i>Films honored at the event, hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kevin_Sorbo\">Kevin Sorbo<\/a>, included <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hrJQDPpIK6I\">The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader<\/a><\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TNMpa5yBf5o\"><em>Toy Story 3<\/em><\/a>,<em>&nbsp;<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UKmuvjL2cVw\"><i>Secretariat<\/i><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=v-enZPI_eiw\"><em>Mao&#8217;s Last Dancer<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article_body\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/never-say-never-retains-box-159630\"><b>Justin Bieber has legs.<\/b><\/a> The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/Entertainment\/Celebrities\/Justin-Bieber-Tween-Evangelist.aspx\">openly Christian pop star<\/a>&#8216;s <i>Never Say Never <\/i>concert documentary rakes in another $13.6 million between Friday and Sunday &#8212; bringing its ten-day total too $48.5 million.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/02\/20\/theater\/20mormon.html?_r=1\"><b><i>The Book of Mormon<\/i> hits Broadway (or gets hit by it).<\/b><\/a> The <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Book_of_Mormon\">sacred text of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints<\/a> provides the title of a new Broadway musical comedy from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/South_Park\"><i>South Park<\/i><\/a> creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The irreverent production story follows two young Mormon missionaries in Uganda. If there&#8217;s a movie, chances are it won&#8217;t win a Movieguide Faith and Values Award &#8212; and, given those stats, won&#8217;t do very well at the box office. It&#8217;s also interesting, particularly after <a href=\"http:\/\/news.blogs.cnn.com\/2010\/04\/19\/security-brief-radical-islamic-web-site-takes-on-south-park\/\">their TV show&#8217;s run-in with radical Islam<\/a>, which holy book Parker and Stone chose to satirize. Mormons, <u>to their credit<\/u>, are quite a few steps down in the dangerous target department..<br \/><b>BTW,<\/b> if someone really wants to produce a successful musical, how about a respectful story of faith utilizing some of the beautiful hymns sang in churches around the world every Sunday. The music is already written and would sound great in a Broadway theater.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/><i><b>Quote of the Day:<\/b><\/i> <i>&#8220;If they won&#8217;t write the kind of books we want to read, we shall have to write them ourselves.&#8221;<\/i>&nbsp; So Christian author <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/C._S._Lewis\">C.S. Lewis<\/a> (<i>The Chronicles of Narnia<\/i>) is quoted as telling his friend and fellow Christian (Catholic) author <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/J._R._R._Tolkien\">J.R.R. Tolkien<\/a> (<i>The Lord of the Rings<\/i>) in an interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/bighollywood.breitbart.com\/lgrin\/2011\/02\/19\/sanity-and-sanctity-the-ennobling-fantasy-of-j-r-r-tolkien-part-1\/\">Big Hollywood blog written by Leo Grin<\/a>. <br \/><b>IMHO: <\/b>I think Lewis&#8217; sentiment can also be rightly applied to movies, television, music and all&nbsp; media. If we want a positive popular culture, we have to stop complaining and create it ourselves.&nbsp; We know the audience is there.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>No blog tomorrow.
