He points out that movies made during that supposed cinematic<br \/>\ndark age include classics like <i>Citizen Kane<\/i>, <i>The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind,<br \/>\nStagecoach, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Casablanca, It&#8217;s a Wonderful<br \/>\nLife, It Happened One Night, Some Like It Hot, All About Eve, The<br \/>\nSearchers, Bringing Up Baby, North by Northwest, Rebel Without a Cause,<br \/>\nDouble Indemnity, Mutiny on the Bounty, City Lights, Red River, The<br \/>\nBishop&#8217;s Wife, Singin&#8217; in the Rain, My Man Godfrey, Goodbye Mr. Chips,<br \/>\nRoman Holiday<\/i> and <em>Sabrina<\/em>.<br \/>\n<b>IMHO:<\/b> First, there is a distinction to be made between government<br \/>\ncensorship and a movie studio censoring itself. But that censorship<br \/>\n(aka responsible judgment) should come from an internal sense of taste<br \/>\nand propriety (as well as right and wrong) on the part of filmmakers and not be imposed by the Catholic<br \/>\nChurch or any other group. On the other hand, the Church, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsrealblog.com\/2011\/01\/19\/glaad-condemns-the-dilemmas-gay-joke-justified-offense-or-political-correctness-run-amok\/\">GLAAD<\/a> and everyone else have a right to criticize what is put out into the culture. <br \/><b><br \/>\n<br \/>\n<\/b><b>News: <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment\/news\/la-ca-disney-jr-20110213,0,1124544.story?track=rss\">Disney Channel moves to promote social values in pre-school programming.<\/a><\/b><br \/>\nAs long as they stick to the basics (i.e. kindness, respect and consideration for<br \/>\nothers) and avoid political indoctrination (of the right or left), that&#8217;s a<br \/>\ngood thing. &nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/michelle-obama-cartoon-networks-hall-99329?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thr%2Fnews+%28The+Hollywood+Reporter+-+Top+Stories%29\">Michelle Obama to promote healthy eating on Cartoon Network.<\/a><\/b><br \/>\nInteresting juxtaposition of stories here but I think encouraging kids<br \/>\nto eat well is fine. Now, if she were to go on a preaching bender about national<br \/>\nhealth care policy that would be another story.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/movies\/article\/can-justin-bieber-model-save-box-office-24731\"><i>Never Say Never<\/i> a hit.<\/a><\/b> The new concert\/documentary film in which pop star Justin Bieber <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/Entertainment\/Celebrities\/Justin-Bieber-Tween-Evangelist.aspx\">openly displays his Christian faith<\/a> is a big hit on a relatively small budget. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/jesse-l-martin-cast-marc-99530\"><b>Jesse L. Martin sings <i>Hallelujah<\/i>.<\/b><\/a> The former <i>Law &amp; Order <\/i>star is teaming with <i>Desperate Housewives <\/i>creator<br \/>\nMarc Cherry and ABC on a musical drama pilot with religious overtones.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s about a town that sees its fortunes change when a mysterious<br \/>\nstranger arrives &#8212; perhaps leading to a restoration of faith among its<br \/>\ncitizens. A church choir will serve as a backdrop for the stories. A faith-themed <i>Glee<\/i>? I like the concept.
