My personal nominees: Jesus of Nazareth<\/i><\/a>, Schindler’s List<\/i><\/a>, Joe Versus the Volcano<\/i><\/a>, Tender Mercies<\/i><\/a>, Planes, Trains and Automobiles<\/i><\/a>, Raiders of the Lost Ark<\/a>, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade<\/a>,<\/i> The Bells of St. Mary’s<\/i><\/a>, Doubt<\/i><\/a>, Signs<\/a> <\/i>and Amazing Grace<\/i><\/a>.   <\/p>\n

Catholic guilt goes digital<\/b>.<\/b><\/a>
\nCatholic Church officials have approved a new iPhone app that is
\ndesigned to help users prepare for their next confession. It retails for
\n$1.99. <\/b>While some Catholics are on board with this<\/a>, I have my doubts. Besides privacy concerns (despite password protection), I’m concerned about how the gizmo could feed scrupulosity<\/a>, the little-discussed psychological problem involving an obsessive and fearful preoccupation with the concept of  sin which affects many Catholics. It’s actually a problem within the Church that could use more light shed upon it. I’ll return to this subject on another day.    <\/p>\n

<\/b>Noah’s Ark: The Graphic Novel.<\/b><\/a> Darren Aronofsky<\/a>, currently up for an Oscar for directing Black Swan<\/i><\/a>, is planning to give the Old Testament<\/a> story a comic book makeover. Says Aronofsky: “Noah was the first person to plant vineyards and drink wine and get
\ndrunk. It’s there in the Bible – it was one of the first things he did
\nwhen he reached land. There was some real survivor’s guilt going on
\nthere. He’s a dark, complicated character.”
\n<\/i><\/p>\n

Also getting a modern treatment:
New Captain America won’t be “a jingoistic flag waver.”<\/a>  <\/b>The superhero, star of an upcoming movie, is being updated to fit the times — and international markets.<\/p>\n

GOP seeks Public Broadcasting defunding.<\/b><\/a> Getting government money out of Public Broadcasting will be good for the independence of Public Broadcasting.
