Just returned home from a blessedly short visit to my local Hyundai dealership where I had driven to remedy a problem that occurred last night. I had come home from a long day that included doing FREE HUGS at the Doylestown Memorial Day Parade, having a serendipitous lunch with one friend who I haven’t seen in a few years, then hanging out on my cousin’s sun-drenched back deck and lastly zipping into Philadelphia to have quality time with another kindred spirit. On the way home from my whirlwind day, I stopped at Trader Joe’s for some grocery shopping and brought home lovely flowers. Next visit was to the World Market to have fun purchasing gifts for a friend who is getting married.<\/p>\n
When I pulled into my driveway and attempted to roll up the windows that had been open to allow a beautiful breeze that was an antidote to the pre-summer warm temps, I discovered that the passenger windows wouldn’t budge. Uh oh. I prayed, offered Reiki to my car, I panicked, and then decided that my car would be safe overnight. The next morning, I planned to take it over as soon as the dealership opened to have them do a look-see. I strategized the ‘what ifs,’ hoping I could get to work on time, and thinking through car rental if needed and then remembering that they have a courtesy van.<\/p>\n
Beforehand, I researched the likely cause and it seemed it was electrical in nature according to other owners who had the same issues. I expressed gratitude that it hadn’t rained overnight. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to hold off the torrents when I got into the car and drove the few miles to get there. I kept intending that it be a quick, easy and affordable fix that would allow me to get to work on time. When I pulled into the lot, I saw that there wasn’t room for my vehicle under cover, so I went inside and told the man behind the counter that there was a bit of an emergency and inquired if\u00a0he could pull it to a dry spot. He asked if I could leave the car there for the day since it might be a while before they could get to it. I asked for a ride to work if that was the case. I handed him the keys and he parked the car and came out smiling with the windows in the closed position.<\/p>\n
“What magic did you work?” He responded that I had the lock button on that prevented those windows from raising. He handed me the keys and after thanking him for being a miracle worker, I was on my way, amazed at how perfectly my intention came to be. Quick…check…easy…check and not only affordable but free. Can’t get better than that.<\/p>\n
How often do we all miss the simple solution that could unlock a world of possibility? How many times have we left ourselves exposed to the emotional elements? How can we trust that all will work out despite our doubts?<\/p>\n
