Some songs grab a hold of me and don’t easily let go. This morning I was listening to my favorite Philadelphia based radio station WXPN<\/a>\u00a0and heard veteran DJ Helen Leicht interview Eric Bazilian who is the front man for The Hooters. A Philly boy who made good. Best known for the songs And We Danced, All You Zombies<\/em> and the Cyndi Lauper hit, Time After Time,\u00a0<\/em>he is a prolific writer and clearly\u00a0deep thinker. Although the piece he sang at the end of the segment called Until You Dare <\/em>has been around awhile, this was the first time I had heard it. It spoke to the part of me that sometimes fears taking leaps of faith, wondering how I will land. I know I eventually will. No one stays aloft forever.<\/p>\n

Lately I have been in free flight, having taken a dive that feels like it is off an Acapulco cliff, so high is the peak and so far distant is the water. I am in familiar territory, having done it many times before, but each one\u00a0is like the first. It revolves around career decisions, relationships, the next steps in my life, as well as the question of who will be by my side as I take them. \u00a0There are times when I want to huddle beneath the covers until Spring thaw evidences new life popping up from beneath the soil. I have delved deeply into my psyche’ in dream state and actually look forward to sleeping so I can enter into them and find answers to some of puzzling questions that have arisen for me.<\/p>\n

The pseudo safety of hiding behind old beliefs and ways of living my life has only gotten me so far. Now it feels like time to leave them behind and come out into the light of day. When I have dared to bare my soul, I have found rewards in the form of support of family and friends, feedback from readers about the impact of\u00a0my inspired words, as well as God-winks that tell me I am on the right track. Although being true to myself and my values can feel isolating at times, it is still the best path I know how to tread.<\/p>\n
