Yesterday, I was sitting in a black plastic chair at Meineke in Doylestown, \u00a0waiting for my car to be given the thumbs up to be road worthy after a rough winter. Here in Eastern, PA, like many places that endured snow, below freezing temps and with it, expansion and contraction of driving surfaces, we were left with potholes, some that could swallow a car whole and spit out the bones. As careful as I thought I was, my otherwise sturdy Jeep fell prey. I was enjoying the company of the pups- Penny and Ezra, whose people, Kevin and Wendy, along with her brother Brett run the place and always take good care of me and my car. Penny is a ten year old terrier mix who parades around like she <\/strong>owns the place, jumping up on chairs next to customers, the better to be petted. Ezra is a new adoptee; a boxer who believes himself to be a lap dog. When I first made his acquaintance, he jumped up, wrapping his front paws around for a hug. He loves having his chin scratched.<\/p>\n

I am both a people and pup person and every time I go there, I meet amazing\u00a0folks with whom I have something in common and sometimes more than one thing. The last time, it was an English professor at a community college who was grading papers, so, of course, we talked writing. She invited me to come speak there and I am waiting to schedule.\u00a0 Yesterday, it was Cat, who, like me, was wearing purple- my favorite color on the spectrum. As we explored, we discovered, that we had both been competitive swimmers and lifeguards in our youth, \u00a0both in the mental health field, both writers, both raised in traditionally religious homes, but now have an interfaith perspective.<\/p>\n

I had posted this connection on Facebook and it prompted a response from my friend LisaBeth Weber who, as cosmic coincidence would have it, had a appointment there later in the day.<\/p>\n

I laughed when I first considered that perhaps the door through which I walk into this seemingly magical place where serendipitous meetings take place- such as other kindred spirits with whom I have connected, leads to a kind\u00a0of \u00a0Narnia. Then it occurred to me that since events like this occur daily in my life,\u00a0 perhaps I am the vortex and so are you. It is portable.
