This morning, I saw a short video clip called A Love Letter To The World and was delighted with the message it shared. So inspired that I decided to write my own.\u00a0 It also brought to mind the famous words of poet Robert Browning from The Lesson For Today<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI hold your doctrine of <\/strong><\/em>Memento Mori <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n And were an epitaph to be my story, I\u2019d have a short one ready for my own. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n I would have written of me on my stone: I had a lover\u2019s quarrel with the world.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Dear World:<\/p>\n I have lived with you for the past 55 years in this incarnation and likely eons more in countless others. In that timeless time, I have adored, treasured and appreciated you. I have also rebelled against you, been puzzled by you and been distraught by what those who share you with me, do to this pretty\u00a0planet and\u00a0to each other. I am fascinated with the myriad life forms that are born, live and die in your midst. I have always been a curious soul and you offer no end of wonder for me to ponder. I have learned to walk lightly on you, knowing that you support and sustain my very existence. Hmmm….as I type these words, am I writing to Gaia herself, to Mother Earth and Father Sky, Brother Son and Sister Moon or to those who inhabit them all? Does it make a difference since we are all One anyway?<\/p>\n If I am sending this missive to my fellow planetary dwellers, then I want you to know that I honor and embrace all you have learned this time around and I ask you to honor and embrace yourselves. Happier people are a greater force for good in the world. All of us, with our thoughts, feelings and actions, feed the ‘collective soup pot’. The broth can be bitter or sweet; it’s up to us. Emotions and mood states are contagious and the choice is ours about which we want to maintain.<\/p>\n Each day, my intentions either nourish or starve you. If I whisper sweet nothings in your ear, you may giggle with delight (I know I do, when those are given to me). If I glower and glare at you in judgment or rail and carry on loudly, I become, as in the words of the exquisite poem Desiderata “vexations to the Spirit”.\u00a0 If I have a “lover’s quarrel” with you, I know it is for the purpose of creating peace and positive change, not just to be right; although there are times that I admit, I do want to get the last word. I have judged people as ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ for causing\u00a0damage to themselves and others. I have intervened when I have seen it occurring. These days, I use words that heal rather than harm. I have desired to soothe souls rather than merely stir them up; although stirring the pot isn’t always disruptive and sometimes necessary to enhance the flavor of what is brewing in it.<\/p>\n I set intention each day, as I am doing at this moment in the wee hours, to ‘have an extraordinary day and connect with amazing people,’ and each day it happens. \u00a0I do my best to consciously express love, in thought, word and deed, knowing that as I scatter seeds, they always land somewhere, even if I don’t have a clue when the crop will sprout. My growing edge is releasing the chattering of the monkey mind, spinning ceaselessly, with the litany of ‘not enough’. What if we all knew we had it in us to give you our best and to share our gifts generously, as we let go of that fear?<\/p>\n I celebrate the art, music, words, dance that creates you anew each moment. I treasure the works of he(art) that we all are. I value the magnificence of cosmic creation; the star sparkled night, the depths of the ocean, the cerulean sky, the two leggeds, four leggeds, finned and winged ones that walk, fly, swim and crawl, the so-called sentient and non-sentient beings that live among us.<\/p>\n I offer you\u00a0the most heart expanding hug, the most decadently delicious box of chocolates to make your taste buds hum and a sweet smile to curl on your beautiful face, and the most sweep you off your collective feet swooning smooch imaginable.<\/p>\n I love you from the depths of my being,<\/p>\n Edie<\/p>\n
