My talented spiritual singer songwriter friend Annabella Wood has a way with words and blending them with music in such a way that it delights and tickles souls. Today was no exception as\u00a0 at our interfaith community Circle of Miracles, she took\u00a0 one of my favorite\u00a0Christmas Carols- O Holy Night and adapted it beautifully so that it took on deeper meaning for me. I was raised Jewish (the religion of Jesus) and although I was exposed to his teachings by attending services with Christian friends, he was still a bit of a foreign entity. Sadly, these same words were used to fuel hatred, so I was not encouraged by my parents, to embrace them. The more I learned about the man who embodied Divine Love, the more I came to recognize that anyone can twist words and make them mean anything that they choose. Likewise, they can translate and transform them into empowerment. What if we lived in such a way as this adaptation suggests? What if\u00a0 we let love, rather than fear, lead our hearts and influence our choices?<\/p>\n

O Holy Night<\/em><\/p>\n

The stars are brightly shining<\/em><\/p>\n

It is the night of the Way-shower’s birth<\/em><\/p>\n

Long lay ourselves with little understanding<\/em><\/p>\n

Till he appeared and our soul felt its worth<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A ray of hope, our weary selves rejoicing<\/em><\/p>\n

For yonder lay, a new and glorious life<\/em><\/p>\n

Fall on your knees<\/em><\/p>\n

O hear the angel voices<\/em><\/p>\n

O night divine<\/em><\/p>\n

O night that Christ was born<\/em><\/p>\n

O night divine O night O holy night<\/em><\/p>\n

Truly he taught<\/em><\/p>\n

Us to love one another<\/em><\/p>\n

His law is love<\/em><\/p>\n

And his gospel is peace<\/em><\/p>\n

Hatred shall ease<\/em><\/p>\n

For everyone’s our brother<\/em><\/p>\n

And by our deeds<\/em><\/p>\n

All oppression shall cease<\/em><\/p>\n

With songs of joy<\/em><\/p>\n

In grateful chorus rising<\/em><\/p>\n

Let every heart<\/em><\/p>\n

Enjoy this glorious day<\/em><\/p>\n
