I have felt that way at times, wondering had I made different choices, I would have ended up elsewhere.\u00a0 It is one of those endlessly imponderable inquiries, since I don&#8217;t know for sure if life events are beshert (Yiddish for &#8216;meant to be&#8217;) or if they are random. I call that my Forrest Gump question. Remember that he always seemed to right in the thick of things at pivotal moments in world history? Maybe it is a combination. What I do know is that my decisions (conscious or unconscious) lead to actions that lead to outcomes. The good news is that I can always re-evaluate and take detours that\u00a0guide \u00a0me to just where my soul most needs to go for its Highest Good.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a id=\"overlay_image_anchor_2430001\" href=\"http:\/\/www.everystockphoto.com\/photo.php?imageId=2430001&amp;searchId=bc25093dc4d5fd36dfd3cee631638d06&amp;npos=10\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"overlay_image_2430001\" title=\"Forrest Gump\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/estock_dev\/fspid11\/48\/90\/19\/california-hollywood-museum-489019-m.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>Messages are reinforcing. Yesterday I was on my way to the office where I am employed as an addictions counselor who works with clients who are in various stages of recovery from drug and alcohol abuse. I had my eyes on the road and was particularly attentive since we had just been through a snow storm, there was some black ice and sun glare, so drivers were going fairly slowly. I was feeling a bit impatient because I was going to be getting there later than planned and called our office manager to ask her to let my client know and to hang in there. The woman hadn&#8217;t yet arrived, so I settled back and kept driving. My \u00a0&#8216;company&#8217; in the car was my friend Lew Doty, in the form of his new CD called <strong>Ange<\/strong>l (which I had reviewed for Beliefnet\u00a0 a\u00a0 few weeks ago \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/blissblog\/2013\/11\/angel.html\">http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/blissblog\/2013\/11\/angel.html<\/a> ). The lyrics of his song called <em>How The World Is Changed<\/em> were streaming through the Jeep and I was singing along enthusiastically:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>I speak my word into the Law<\/p>\n<p>The Law of Mind<\/p>\n<p>The Mind of God<\/p>\n<p>This is how the world is changed<\/p>\n<p>This word is powered by belief<\/p>\n<p>Belief in God<\/p>\n<p>Belief in Me<\/p>\n<p>This is how the world is changed<\/p>\n<p>A moment later, I gazed to my right and saw an 18 wheeler slowly motoring next to me and I laughed as I caught the serial number emblazoned in black on the snow, salt and mud splattered back of the vehicle&#8230;&#8230;GOD (and then the rest of the digits which I can&#8217;t remember at the moment).\u00a0 A minute sooner or later and I would have missed it. Right place, right time.<\/p>\n<p>I drove for another five minutes and pulled into the parking lot. Just as I was turning off the engine, I noticed that my client had also arrived. She smiled as we both reached the door at the same time &#8220;You&#8217;re late,&#8221; she teased. &#8220;So are you,&#8221;\u00a0 I responded and then added, &#8220;Nah, we&#8217;re both right on time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I have had so many experiences like that. As much as I endeavor to get places at the agreed upon time and I plan and prepare, there are unexpected detours and delays and ALWAYS I find that it works magically. If I were to get myself agitated (and I have), it seems that traffic slows in proportion to my inner speediness. Amazing how that works.<\/p>\n<p>Consider your own pivotal moments when you and just the perfect people and events show up on the stage of your life as if being divinely directed.
