At the end of an amazing weekend that included a Friday night\u00a0 love-fest that was a concert performed by Philly local, world class musician friends, featuring\u00a0cabaret singer\u00a0Suzan Bartles. The room was packed with folks from various circles who adore her and her vocal stylings.\u00a0 She owned the stage as she belted out songs ranging from jazz standards to a Bob Dylan cover.<\/p>\n

Saturday found me doing my first writing and editing for Expanded Family Magazine, then heading to Planet Fitness for my ‘playout’ and then into\u00a0 Philadelphia to hang out with another friend Anita DeFrancesco, enjoying sushi and miso soup, camping out there and then getting up before the sun to work at the massage tent at the Philadelphia Marathon. Never been there before and enjoyed ushering the runners to the tables and offering much needed massage to the therapists when they took breaks.\u00a0They were in massage marathon mode themselves, providing healing touch and kindness to those who limped in to the heated tent, quite spent. I\u00a0was moved by the folks who came from all corners of the globe, \u00a0to test themselves, to live as examples of human endurance and celebrate what the body could do. Colorful creatives included a few in Wonder Woman, Batman\u00a0and Where’s Waldo? costumes, tutus,\u00a0 and striped tights.<\/p>\n

One dedicated young woman, zipped by on crutches and smiled at the applause given her by those who lined the sidewalks.<\/p>\n

A few hours after returning home, I was listening to an interview with rock icon Graham Nash on my favorite radio station, WPXN based here in Philadelphia. Near the end of the conversation, the host David Dye was asking him about his life joys and\u00a0 Graham made the profound comment that opened this article. “I expect the Universe to show me something magical everyday.”<\/p>\n

Me too, Graham, me too.<\/p>\n
