Eden Retreat in Washington, NJ. Her voice, which reminds me of Grace Slick, from Jefferson Airplane/Starship, wafted over the hills as she chanted kirtan ( a sacred call and response honoring of the names of the Divine). On this particular day about which I am writing, Sharon was the ‘speaker/spark’ at Circle of Miracles, an interfaith community in Bucks County, PA.

Her topic was “Integrity of the Heart – How can we lead our lives from the inner Guru, our own so called GPS navigation system? Learning to listen within and trust that we all have a knowing of truth.” I was moved by the subject since it loudly and clearly resonates with what I accept to be so, that we are always guided by the inner voice of knowing. Now the challenge is to open our ears, hearts and minds to its messages, How often do we close those portals, not wanting to pay attention for fear of change? Guess what? Change happens anyway.

Sharon shared that it was important for her to “get really friendly with my mind, to know what it likes and doesn’t like.” I know that there are moments when I feel my mind is my greatest ally and others, my strongest adversary. I choose to learn from it either way. Sharon has learned to trust her inner guru (my favorite description comes from breaking the syllables down to

G-U-R-U) I have read definitions that range from “dispeller of darkness” to “heavy, weighty, difficult”. Learning about ourselves is not always about taking the easiest route. She spoke of honoring our intuition and one barometer for her connects with feeling vs. thought “If the feeling comes before the thought, then it is probably intuition.” We can think ourselves into and out of nearly anything. I go with my gut initially and then, with conscious awareness, test it out.

One of Sharon’s creative endeavors is called Living At Peace. Her mission statement reads:

“Living At Peace creates a world where adults and children feel unconditional love for themselves and others. Living At Peace empowers and influences people to live life with a positive mindset by developing greater self-awareness.” She gives workshops for parents, children and teachers, offering them a chance to learn through playful and meaningful activities.

Sharon is also a recording artist whose newest ‘baby’ is entitled Alive which contains easily sing-along-able songs to inspire and uplift. The winged heart on the cover that beckons the listener inside, is a clue to the magic they will immerse themselves in as they join the chorus. It is has been my car companion since I got a copy, calling my joy to the heavens.

To learn more, go to

www.livingatpeace.com

www.circleofmiracles.org

www.mountedenretreat.com

A few weeks ago, I sat in the presence of a woman I had met back in May when she performed at The Kindred Spirits Festival at the heaven-on-earth Mt.
