{"id":3111,"date":"2012-05-13T21:12:25","date_gmt":"2012-05-14T01:12:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/blissblog\/?p=3111"},"modified":"2012-05-13T21:14:51","modified_gmt":"2012-05-14T01:14:51","slug":"the-gratitude-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/blissblog\/2012\/05\/the-gratitude-game.html","title":{"rendered":"The Gratitude Game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/blissblog\/files\/2012\/05\/alphabetA.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3113\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/107\/2012\/05\/alphabetA-276x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"276\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Although I am abundantly aware of an atty-tood of gratitude throughout my day, this morning I was invited into its welcoming presence by facebook friend Kim Summers who says she plays The Gratitude Game with her children while tucking them into bed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Most nights at bedtime, my children and I play the &#8220;Gratitude Game.&#8221; We take turns and go through the letters of the alphabet, naming what we are grateful for. &#8220;A&#8221; Apple trees&#8230;&#8221;B&#8221; Beautiful weather&#8230;&#8221;C&#8221; and so on. It was my turn on the letter &#8220;L&#8221;. I chose the words &#8220;Loving these children&#8221; Just then I noticed, both of my sweethearts in each of my arms fast asleep&#8230;&#8230;So Grateful to be a Mom! &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As I write this missive at 7:58 a.m. est on a gorgeous Bucks County, PA morning and I am eager for what awaits me in the next 24 hours. It is like opening a love letter each day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A=\u00a0Awe for the amazing people in my life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>B= Beauty; whether it be a blossoming bud or beatific smile on the face of a friend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>C= Creativity that flows through me like blood coursing through my veins or breath in my lungs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>D= Divinity that showers its blessings upon me.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>E= Earrings that add color and pizzazz!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>F= Friends and family who are my treasures.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>G= Gifts that come in the form of opportunities, hugs, compliments, moment of exquisite grace.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>H= Happiness that arrives unbidden. It just is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I= I AM and then add on the affirming statements that carry the energy of what I desire to call in.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>J= Jelly beans&#8230;colorful and sweet, an occasional treat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>K= Kids who are playful and in the moment, who remind me that I am\u00a0 a child in grownup clothes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>L=Love that is ever-present and truly all we are.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>M= Mom, who is ever in my heart.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>N= Noodles&#8230;the edible kind and the type to float on in the water.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>O=Oh my!&#8230;as an exclaimation of delight.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>P= Prayer which is simply a perpetual conversation of blessing with the Creative Life Force.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Q= Questions that keep me fascinated with life so I am never bored.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>R= Rabbits.\u00a0A little friend\u00a0 often scoots across my lawn\u00a0who I call Runny Babbit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>S= Sand on which I look forward to sprawling this summer at the beach.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>T= Tunes that tickle my fancy, music that feeds my soul.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>U= Unlimited thinking that creates new possibilities each day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>V= Vrrrrroooommmm energy that revs my engine to go where I need to go and enjoy the journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>W= Wowie Zowie&#8230;.one of my favorite statements of delight.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>X- Xtra-ultimate-awesome appreciation for all that is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Y=YES!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Z= Zippity Do-dah&#8230;my oh my&#8230;.\u00a0 It IS a wonderful day!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Care to play?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/hqvBIR0k1_o\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/hqvBIR0k1_o<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although I am abundantly aware of an atty-tood of gratitude throughout my day, this morning I was invited into its welcoming presence by facebook friend Kim Summers who says she plays The Gratitude Game with her children while tucking them into bed. &#8220;Most nights at bedtime, my children and I play the &#8220;Gratitude Game.&#8221;
