The yoga I experience blends breath, mindfulness, movement, mantra, asana, chanting, and devotion both on and off the mat. It informs all that I do on any given day. My purple Gaiam mat has become a magic carpet as it takes me beyond my preconceived notions of what my&nbsp;I can do, how flexible I can be physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. When I entered into this realm, as had long been my pattern, I was highly competitive; not with those around me, but with myself. Holding a pose longer, stretching farther; what I did flew in the face of the sage advice of many of my teachers, &#8220;Go to your edge, but not much beyond it, to avoid injury.&#8221; Did I listen?&nbsp; Not usually. Had an agenda and something to prove.&nbsp; Not any more.
