{"id":314,"date":"2013-08-30T21:11:10","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T21:11:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/blessingsabound\/?p=314"},"modified":"2013-08-30T21:30:04","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T21:30:04","slug":"living-juicy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/blessingsabound\/2013\/08\/living-juicy.html","title":{"rendered":"Living Juicy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--[if gte mso 9]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A friend of mine made a list of things to do in the coming year.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>These were not dry and responsible things like: lose weight, pay off debts, or exercise more.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>No, no, no.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>This was Tara, after all, and Tara doesn\u2019t <i>do<\/i> \u201cdry and boring.\u201d<span>\u00a0 <\/span>On her list were \u201cjuicy and sexy\u201d things &#8211; things like a trapeze class, a workshop in California with a dear friend, movies in the park, and things that made her \u201c<span class=\"usercontent\">feel excited and alive just thinking about doing them<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Tara has the right idea!<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I hereby suggest we forever abolish the idea of boring and responsible resolutions each New Year.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Instead let\u2019s pick a day (birthdays are a good day for this) and list five really fun and juicy things we want to do in the coming year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What makes you feel wild and alive and juicy and free?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This is one of my favorite things about the book <i>The Artist\u2019s Way<\/i>.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I love the way Julia Cameron encourages us to think outside our comfort zone.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>She gives suggested assignments like the following:<span>\u00a0 <\/span>List ten things you\u2019ve always wanted to do but were afraid to try.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>And you might find yourself listing things like: dye my hair, pose nude for an artist\u2019s class, go hang gliding, and learn to play the harp.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Or list ten things you would do if time and money were no object.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>And then you\u2019d write things like: go to Africa, have my own art studio, get an RV and travel the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Did you ever make a bucket list?<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I did once several years ago before I even knew that\u2019s what it was called.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>I listed things like:<span>\u00a0 <\/span>hear a wolf howl, see some whales, and make love with that guy I used to fool around with in high school.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>(I\u2019ve accomplished two of these things.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Unless you count \u201cin my dreams,\u201d and then it\u2019s all three!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">If \u201cno time,\u201d \u201cno money,\u201d and \u201cfear\u201d were unacceptable excuses, what would you do if you could do anything you wanted?<span>\u00a0 <\/span>You don\u2019t necessarily have to think big, but definitely think juicy.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Before you do anything else, list three things right now.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Write it on a piece of paper and then put it in your desk drawer.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Or your bathroom mirror.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Let the ideas percolate in your subconscious.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Pretty soon you\u2019ll be surprised to find yourself not only entertaining these ideas, but doing them!<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Go, go, go!<span>\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s good to feel ALIVE!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A friend of mine made a list of things to do in the coming year.\u00a0 These were not dry and responsible things like: lose weight, pay off debts, or exercise more.\u00a0 No, no, no.\u00a0 This was Tara, after all, and Tara doesn\u2019t do \u201cdry and boring.\u201d\u00a0 On her list were \u201cjuicy and sexy\u201d things &#8211;&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":553,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[224,294,289,260,267,292,290,291,293],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-314","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-artists-way","category-birthday","category-bucket-list","category-creating-the-life-you-want","category-dreams","category-feeling-alive","category-living-juicy","category-no-excuses","category-resolutions"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
