Gravity<\/p>\n

To be specific<\/p>\n

An attraction<\/p>\n

Sometimes fatal<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The gravity<\/p>\n

Of depravity<\/p>\n

Is seldom seen<\/p>\n

In time. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Gravity<\/p>\n

Of an occasion<\/p>\n

Spreads solemnity<\/p>\n

Silently, surreptitiously. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Like love<\/p>\n

Gravity is invisible<\/p>\n

But undeniable<\/p>\n

As the attraction’s too obvious. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Hebrews called it glory<\/p>\n

By which they meant heavy<\/p>\n

Weighty, profound<\/p>\n

And asked–Who is the king of glory<\/p>\n

Who is that weighty one?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

     <\/span>II<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Galileo<\/p>\n

To be succinct<\/p>\n

Was right<\/p>\n

Though his tower <\/p>\n

Leaned left. <\/p>\n

And he dropped the ball<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Without Gravity<\/p>\n

Our planet<\/p>\n

Would not even orbit <\/p>\n

Around the sizzling sun<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the moon <\/p>\n

Things are less ‘grave’<\/p>\n

Less mass<\/p>\n

Less weight. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And in space<\/p>\n

Weight has no place<\/p>\n

In zero gravity<\/p>\n

There’s no obesity!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I haven’t the energy<\/p>\n

To calculate<\/p>\n

Mass times<\/p>\n

Speed of light squared.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But if I did<\/p>\n

I’d round it off<\/p>\n

Easy as pi<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And convert my own mass<\/p>\n

Into something less critical. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For its gravity<\/p>\n

That makes my stomach sag,<\/p>\n

And my jowls hang<\/p>\n

And my arches fall<\/p>\n

And my dunks duds.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gravity is a downer<\/p>\n

For what goes up…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I guess they call it a ‘grave’<\/p>\n

When they lay you in the ground<\/p>\n

Because then, finally<\/p>\n

Gravity’s really got you down. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thank goodness God<\/p>\n

And not gravity<\/p>\n

Gets the last word<\/p>\n

Weighing in, on us. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
