style=\"font-size: 16pt\"><br \/><\/span>A cold and listless season,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And full of cheerless cheer,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When hopes are raised and dashed again<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And joy dissolves in tears.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The search for endless family<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The search for one true Friend<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Leaves questers tired, disconsolate<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">With questions without end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Best find some potent pleasure quick<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Some superficial thrill<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Than search for everlasting love<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When none can fill that bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So hide yourselves in shopping<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And eating \u2018til you burst,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Use endless entertainment<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As shelter from the worst.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And hope at least for truce on earth,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though warlords rattle swords<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As if to kill could solve our ills<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We seize our \u2018just\u2019 rewards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Mistake some rest for lasting peace<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And calm for \u2018all is well\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And absence of activity<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As year end\u2019s victory bell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But what if Advent is no quest<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Despite the wise men\u2019s star<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if Advent isn\u2019t reached<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">By driving from afar?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if Good News comes to us<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">From well beyond our reach?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if love and peace on earth<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Are more than things we preach?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if a restless peace<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Is what He did intend<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Until we open up our lives<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And let the stranger in?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if a peaceless rest<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Is not the Christmas hope<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if nothing we could do<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Helps us truly cope?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if there is a bonding<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">With one who rules above<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Who came to us in beggar\u2019s rags<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And brought the gift of love?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The God shaped hole in every heart<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Is healed by just one source<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When Jesus comes to claim his own<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Who are without recourse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">So give up endless seeking<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Surrender is required<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The one who is the Lord of all<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cannot be bought or hired,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He\u2019s not conjured into life<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">By pomp and circumstance<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">By Yuletide carols boldly sung<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">By fun or drunken trance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He comes unbidden, unawares<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fills crevices of souls<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He comes on his own timely terms<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And makes the sinner whole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2018We shall be restless\u2019 said the saint<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2018Until we rest in thee\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And find that we have been reborn,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Our own nativity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">How silently, how silently<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The precious truth is given<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And God imparts to human hearts<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The blessings of his heaven.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212; <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 16pt\">CREATURES OF HABIT<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in;text-indent: 0.5in\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Creatures of habit,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Day after day<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Go about life,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The same old way. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Nothing disturbs<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Their orderly routine<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">All must be neat,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And all must be clean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">They\u2019re making their lists<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And checking them twice,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Trying to make sure<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Their work will suffice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Impatient by nature<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">They don\u2019t suffer fools<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Gladly or otherwise<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Because of the rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A place for everything<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">For all there\u2019s a place<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Don\u2019t touch the guest towels<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But please wash your face.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">They insist on living<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Orderly lives,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And of course only marry<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Orderly wives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Their homes antiseptic<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Their cars always clean,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Their food always healthy<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Their meat always lean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Like ants in an ant hill,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Repeating their tasks<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Rest in repetition<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ignore the mask.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Chaos is forbidden<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Experiment absurd<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Don\u2019t ask for creative<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Don\u2019t mention the word.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Creatures of habit,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">By whose design?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Is this just human,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Or is it divine?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">What if we found<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That ordering our sphere,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Is just a misnomer<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">For controlling our fear?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fear of the truth,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fear of falling<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fear of the unknown,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fear of our calling<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fearing to let go,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fearing to try,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Fearing to live,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And fearing to die.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Perhaps if we surrender<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Control of our lives,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And offer ourselves<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">To all seeing eyes<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We\u2019d find a new freedom<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though not out of bounds<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\n\">For when he controls us<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The order\u2019s profound.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Let go of the death grip,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">You have on your life<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Inhibit your habits<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Without artifice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Accept serendipity,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Free by design<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Eat the new manna<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Drink the new wine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Come to the manger<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Kneel at the throne<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Realize your ruler<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Won\u2019t leave you alone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Celebrate Christmas<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Deliverance declare<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">You\u2019re freed to inhabit<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A creature\u2019s full share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dec. 1 2005<\/p>\n<p>  &#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">HOLIDAYS\/HOLY DAYS<\/p>\n<p><\/span>  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Holidays are hollow<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>  <\/span>Unless they\u2019re hallowed well,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>               <\/span>For holidays are holy days<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>The time for truth to tell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>There\u2019s time to spare<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>Time to waste<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>Time to make amends<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>Time to do most anything<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>Even make new friends<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>Holidays, a good time<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>            <\/span><span>   <\/span>For writing poetry<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>               <\/span>A silent, subtle indolence<\/p>\n<p>  <span><span>               <\/span>Inspires creativity<br \/>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p><\/span>  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 16pt\">INCOGNITO<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He came in incognito,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A thinly veiled disguise<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The not so subtle son of man,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A human with God\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The messianic secret,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Left many unawares<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A God had walked upon the earth<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And shared our human cares.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We did not see his glory,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">At least not at first glimpse,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It took an Easter wake up call,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Before it all made sense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The truth of Incarnation,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Of dwelling within flesh,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Shows goodness in creation,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And Word of God made fresh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Standing on the boundary<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Twixt earth and heaven above<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A Jew who hailed from Nazareth<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But came from God\u2019s great love.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Born of humble parents,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Installed inside a stall<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This king required no entourage<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">No pomp or falderal<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">No person was beneath him<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">No angel o\u2019er his head,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He came to serve the human race<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">To raise it from the dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">His death a great conundrum,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">How can the Deathless die?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But if he had not bowed his head,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Life would have passed us by.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Though we are dying to be loved,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And long for endless life,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He was dying in his love,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And thereby ending strife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Perhaps the incognito<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Belongs instead to us,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Who play at being human,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And fail to be gold dust.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But there was once a God-man<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Who played the human\u2019s part<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And lived and died and rose again<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Made sin and death depart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Yes now through a glass dimly,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We see the visage royal<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And feebly honor his great worth<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And his atoning toil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We cannot see his Spirit,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But moved by its effects<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We are inspired to praise his worth<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And pay our last respects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Yet that too brings him glory<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That too makes a start,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The journey of a million miles<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Begins within one\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And someday we shall see him<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And fully praise his grace,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Someday when heaven and earth collide<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And we see face to face.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He comes in blinding
