MUSINGS<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nI’m afraid my muse is too musical<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd has a propensity for rhyme<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt prefers lyrical to metrical…<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nUntil it runs out of time. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt’s apt to use a wordplay<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd a pun is within its scope<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nBut don’t ask for iambic pentameter<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt really cannot cope. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIts quite well-versed in stanzas<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd prone to prefer a quip<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt can’t resist a juste mot<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nWon’t let an opportunity slip.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nSometimes its feet are feeble<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nlike a tipsy man stumbling around<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd some of its flashy metaphors<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nSeem to come from the lost and found.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIts alliteration alights a lot<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd its sonorous sounds abound<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nBut it needs some onomatapoeia<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nTo impress other poets around. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nOh where is the inspiration<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nThat moved the Bard and his kin<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nI’m stuck with a Nash Rambler<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nBabbling about pelicans again. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt turns our rap’s over-rated<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd free verse doesn’t come cheap<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd when I see what’s created<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nTheir muse must have been half asleep.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIf your quatrain won’t leave the station<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nThen it should be ignored<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nDespite all its huffing and puffing<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt’s muse isn’t on………bored!<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt turns out there are sadder things<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nThan bland words from tongue or pen<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt’s muses who aren’t amusing<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nAnd commit all those literary sins. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIf you have to ask what a muse meant<\/i><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nIt’s like asking the point of a trope<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nObviously that poet’s oblivious<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nOr he’s come to the end of his rope. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\nFor Chris at Christmas 12\/22\/ 10<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n <\/font><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
