{"id":1219,"date":"2010-10-19T21:23:30","date_gmt":"2010-10-19T21:23:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/2010\/10\/in-my-mind-im-gone-to-carolina.html"},"modified":"2010-10-19T21:23:30","modified_gmt":"2010-10-19T21:23:30","slug":"in-my-mind-im-gone-to-carolina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/bibleandculture\/2010\/10\/in-my-mind-im-gone-to-carolina.html","title":{"rendered":"In My Mind I&#8217;m Gone to Carolina"},"content":{"rendered":"<form><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/Duke%20004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 004.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/Duke%20004-thumb-400x225-18499.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<div>Above you will see not only my favorite watering hole on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, you also get a glimpse of two relatives of my, geared up to go see the Heels play Son of Clem (i.e. Clemson).&nbsp; It was a beautiful Fall day, but man cannot live by football alone, so first, we went to the Carolina Coffee Shop, the longest continuously operating restaurant in Chapel Hill, where a great brunch can be had.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<form><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/Duke%20001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 001.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/Duke%20001-thumb-400x225-18501.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<p><\/div>\n<div>Here&#8217;s the inside of the restaurant where many hours were spent by me and my friends, drinking beverages, eating, solving major world problems (like how many times would Carolina beat Duke in the coming years), and yes, studying for exams. Did I mention the memorabilia on the walls?<\/p>\n<form><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/Duke%20002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 002.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/Duke%20002-thumb-400x225-18503.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/p>\n<form><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/Duke%20016.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 016.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/Duke%20016-thumb-400x711-18505.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"400\" height=\"711\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<p><\/div>\n<div><\/p>\n<form><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 018.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/Duke%20018.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1920\" \/><\/form>\n<p><\/div>\n<div>Part of the pregame fun is the band and cheer leaders playing their way from Franklin Street to the main quad in front of the old library named after my great uncle Louis Round Wilson, and then on to the stadium. <\/p>\n<form><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/Duke%20019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 019.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/Duke%20019-thumb-400x225-18509.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<p><\/div>\n<div><\/p>\n<form><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/Duke%20020.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 020.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/Duke%20020-thumb-400x225-18511.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<p><\/div>\n<div>And of course once we had dispatched Clemson, it was time to go out and celebrate, of course at our favorite barbecue restaurant&#8212; Bullocks&#8230;..<\/p>\n<form><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/bibleandculture\/Duke%20022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Duke 022.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/137\/import\/assets_c\/2010\/10\/Duke%20022-thumb-400x225-18513.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-none\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/form>\n<p><\/div>\n<div>Its hard to beat all those hush puppies and cole slaw and hickory smoked pork, and did I mention sweet tea, and then banana pudding for dessert.&nbsp;
