Nestled well up in the mountains north of Antalya and south of Psidian Antioch is the ancient city of Sagalassos, a spectacular archaeological site we visited on the last day of our tour. Here on the mountains Alexander the Great defeated the proud citizens of this place, and they may have built a monument to him (a heroon, or hero monument,,, but it may be for a later ruler).  This site includes, as the pictures below will show— an agora, an odeon, a major Roman road leading into town, a library, a theater, to mention only a few of the sights to see. It is entirely possible that Paul stopped here when he went from Perge north through the mountains to Psidian Antioch, though perhaps he passed west of here.  Immediately below is the interior and exterior of the library.
