The light flashed in my eyes as I glanced into the mirror.\u00a0 It looked spooky and unnatural, but it was just the way the light reflected off the artificial lenses that give me 20\/20 vision.\u00a0 I thought of how people 100 years ago would have thought I was a witch or maybe demon possessed with that odd glint in my eyes when the light hit them just so.\u00a0 In fact, I would have been terrified at the sight, myself, forty years or so ago.\u00a0 I could just imagine doing some time-travel and explaining the phenomenon to my younger self.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s okay,\u201d I would say. \u201cI had\u00a0 new lens put in to replace the old ones.\u00a0 They were so misshapen I had trouble seeing, even with contacts, and I was starting to get cataracts, too.\u00a0 The surgery fixed everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou let them cut open your eyeballs!\u201d my younger self would no doubt exclaim in horror.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, no,\u201d I would say. \u201cIt was all done with a laser. Painless and quick.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s a laser?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, a stream of light, sort of…\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHow could a stream of light possibly cut an eyeball?\u201d<\/p>\n
And so it would go.\u00a0 I would never be able to explain to this more attractive, but less informed, self the technology that had exploded since my younger days.<\/p>\n
Cell phones, home computers, even DVD players, would have been beyond my wildest imagination.<\/p>\n
Yet, they now exist.\u00a0 We take them for granted.<\/p>\n
There are many spiritual things I can\u2019t understand — things I haven\u2019t even the background to imagine.\u00a0 Perhaps one day my older, or perhaps my eternal, self wll say, \u201cYou had no way of knowing what it would be like, but it was all in God\u2019s plan, waiting to happen.\u00a0 There are wonders ahead that can\u2019t even be explained to you.\u201d<\/p>\n
I\u2019m looking forward to it. Meanwhile, I\u2019m waiting with faith until everything will be explained. Or at least as much as I can grasp. I still don\u2019t understand exactly about lasers…..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
