Happy Giving Tuesday!\u00a0 We had Black Friday and Cyber Monday.\u00a0 Those days were about shopping for bargains and buying more stuff.\u00a0 Today the focus isn\u2019t on getting, but on giving.<\/p>\n

We talk a lot on this blog about living a healthy lifestyle so we can live longer, stronger lives.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 If we aren\u2019t doing something important with those lives, why bother to extend them?\u00a0 I don\u2019t know about you, but I want to live so I can give.<\/p>\n

And people who are involved with others are healthier and happier. Look around you.\u00a0 There are hurting people everywhere.\u00a0 Some need a helping hand. Others need a listening ear.\u00a0 You can provide both!<\/p>\n

No ideas?\u00a0 Why not pick up some inexpensive gifts, wrap them up, and drop them off at a local nursing home.\u00a0 Ask the workers there to give them to someone who doesn\u2019t have a family on Christmas.<\/p>\n

Check with your local homeless shelter.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure they will have suggestions for you.\u00a0 They always need things like blankets, coats, gloves, and scarves.<\/p>\n

Do you have a heart for children? Toys for Tots and various other groups are collecting Christmas gifts for needy kids.\u00a0 Citizens Caring for Children is our local group in the Oklahoma City area that provides clothing, shoes, and coats for children in the foster care system.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure there is a similar one in your city.<\/p>\n

And here is one of my favorites:\u00a0 Reece\u2019s Rainbow helps fund the adoption of children with Down syndrome from third world countries.\u00a0 Often the children are moved from an orphanage at the age of four or five and are warehoused in adult mental institutions. It\u2019s expensive to get them here, but there are families eager to welcome them into loving homes.\u00a0 You can check them out here:\u00a0 http:\/\/reecesrainbow.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n
