{"id":1796,"date":"2012-07-31T03:36:05","date_gmt":"2012-07-31T07:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/beyondgorgeous\/?p=1796"},"modified":"2012-08-07T08:31:52","modified_gmt":"2012-08-07T12:31:52","slug":"do-it-the-hard-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/beyondgorgeous\/2012\/07\/do-it-the-hard-way.html","title":{"rendered":"Make Exercise Fit Your Life #7 &#8211;Do it the Hard Way!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We spend a lot of time figuring out how to do our work more efficiently.\u00a0 That\u2019s fine &#8212; unless we are doing it so we have more time to spend on the couch in front of the TV.\u00a0 Did you know that you burn more calories doing nothing at all than you spend watching TV?\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure why, unless the television lulls your metabolism as well as your brain into inactivity.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, if you are wanting to work more activity into your life, you might try to do the opposite.\u00a0 Do things the hard way.\u00a0 That comes easy for me!\u00a0 My motto is \u201cIf there are two ways to do it, do it the hard way first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seriously, you can get an extra edge of calorie burn by making things just a bit less convenient.\u00a0 Put things you use a lot on a higher shelf so you have to reach more.
