\"\"<\/a>It\u2019s Monday — the day we most need inspiration and direction for the week.\u00a0 At least, I do!\u00a0 It\u2019s a good time to remember exactly why we want to lose weight and get fit.<\/p>\n

If you are trying to get in shape to please someone else, you probably will decide they are not worth the effort.\u00a0 Someone who only accepts you if you meet their standards of beauty are usually not<\/em> worth the sacrifice. After all,\u00a0 one of these days the marks of age going to catch up with you no matter how you stave them off.\u00a0 How many raving beauties have you seen at the nursing home?\u00a0 You can\u2019t hang onto people by your looks forever.<\/p>\n

If you are just trying to fit into last summer\u2019s clothes, you will probably decide that it is easier to buy new ones. You deserve new clothes, anyway.<\/p>\n

If you are trying to gain an edge and power over the people in your life by your superior body, you are doomed to fail.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t work that way.<\/p>\n

But if you are making an all-out effort to get healthy for your God — then you can and will succeed.\u00a0 A fit Christian is\u00a0 a better representation of God to the world.\u00a0 I still remember the woman who said that she wasn\u2019t interested in knowing more about God because all the Christian women she knew were fat. (I was significantly overweight at the time.) Most important, a fit and healthy Christian can serve God better, more cheerfully, and longer than one who slips down the easy path to over-indulgence and poor health.<\/p>\n

So if you find your motivation sputtering and are just tired of doing the right thing, maybe you should take a few minutes to think about your why<\/em>.\u00a0 Do it for Him and you will be able to accomplish your goals — joyfully!<\/p>\n
