\"surrender.jpeg\"<\/span>I love this time of the liturgical year, because the readings are full of hope and renewal, of promise and light. Here’s a nice meditation I read the other morning by Richard Hobbs, a convert to Catholicism and father of six sons.<\/em>
\nYou cannot have peace in your hearts
\nUntil you have been born again from above.
\nAnd you cannot understand the meaning of peace
\nUntil you have surrendered your whole lives to me
\nAnd received them back as pure gift.
\nYou may refuse my invitation
\nTo sit at my Father’s table,
\nAnd your worldly lives
\nMay seem to be filled with meaning,
\nTo be more real than the lives
\nOf those who walk with me.
\nBut until you have experienced
\nThe peace that comes
\nFrom my Spirit within you,
\nYou do not know
\nThe meaning of true peace.
\nBut those who have surrendered
\nEverything into my hands,
\nWill receive back all that they need;
\nThey walk with me
\nIn the freedom of my resurrection life;
\nThey ask and it is given to them;
\nThey knock and I open to them;
\nIf they are weary,
\nI take their burdens from them;
\nNothing disturbs their peace,
\nEven though they
\nThrough the valley of the shadow of death.<\/p>\n
